Baked Parsnip Fries

baked parsnip friesOnce 10pm rolls around, I’m one to crave McDonald’s french fries dipped in ketchup. I love a late night snack that includes both salty and crunchy flavors and textures. These baked parsnip fries are an alternative to those unhealthy, over indulgent fried potatoes. They are very quick to make and taste so delicious when sprinkled generously with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

  • 3 large parsnips
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  1. Cut the parsnips into thin slices and place them in a large bowl.
  2. Mix in 3 tablespoons olive oil and 1 tablespoon garlic powder. Add a dash of salt and a sprinkle of black pepper.
  3. Mix thoroughly and then distribute parsnip fries evenly on a baking sheet.
  4. Broil for 5-8 minutes, making sure you keep watch until the fries are golden brown and crispy. (From experience, I’ve learned they burn very quickly and easily too, be careful and keep a good watch on them!) Enjoy.

Thanks Rachel. Hm, they have a unique taste, they are sweeter than potatoes and have a bit of a different texture then potatoes, too. They’re definitely worth trying! Let me know if you like!
