Chocolate Chip French Toast

french toastLast week was a special friend’s birthday. To celebrate, I invited her over for brunch. While catching up and chatting we cooked up some delicious chocolate chip french toast, it was perfect! This is the best recipe that goes well with a large cup of coffee, a fulfilling conversation, and a satisfied tummy. We loved it so much, including the gooey chocolate chips and the fruit on top, that I’m thinking of making it tomorrow morning for breakfast, too.

  • 8 thick slices of french bread
  • Butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Chocolate chips
  • Banana
  • Blueberries
  1. Mix eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
  2. Dip slices of french bread into the mix and soak for a few seconds, be sure to dip each side.
  3. Place chocolate chips into the holes of the bread, use as many chips as desired.
  4. Put the bread slices on a buttered pan under medium heat and use a spatula to gently press the bread into the pan.
  5. Cook on one side for 2-3 minutes, then flip over and cook the other side.
  6. Repeat with all the slices
  7. Serve with hot maple syrup and fresh fruit garnished on top, I chose bananas and blueberries, but choose whatever you fancy. Enjoy.

Thanks so much Joey Marie! Although, I do think there is something very satisfying about plain bread with butter ;)

EASY, Martha! Wow this looks insanely professional. You know those “nailed it” memes when us failures try to re-create culinary works of art but it ends up a pile of mush? That’s usually me. But this looks incredible – how much for you to express ship these to me for tomorrow’s breaky??
