Life Lately

I finally got around to reading Where The Crawdads Sing… I know, it’s so 2020 and I’m behind. But, I loved it. I go through phases where I’ll read a lot and then all of a sudden I don’t go near a book at all. Right now, I’m in the reading phase. Also, I can’t wait until the movie comes out. I loved watching Daisy Edgar Jones in Normal People so I can’t wait for her to play the main character, Kya in the movie Where The Crawdads Sing. Also, do you have any other book recommendations for while I’m in my reading phase?!

My sister opened an Esty shop, Passionfruit Prince. She’s so talented and makes the cutest animal art prints. Definitely check them out! They’re perfect for a kids room/nursery, bathroom or in a gallery wall. I’m so proud of all her beautiful work. They are also hanging up in our local smoothie/bubble tea shop which was super cool to go see.

I’ve been really into making little mezze platters for lunch. I’ll change my plate up here and there but typically it’ll include mini peppers, sliced cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, rainbow carrots, crunchy and salty crackers or pita, some cheese and either a side of tzatziki sauce or hummus. Also a pickle on the side cause pickles are good. It’s super easy and delicious, feels a little fancy sometimes too!

During my downtime I’ve been researching Maui and planning our trip there. I don’t love planning for a lot of things but I loooveee planning trips. Anyone else? I forgot how much I missed doing it, especially since we haven’t planned for a big trip in so long.

I’ve been starting out my days reciting Psalm 91 and it literally has given life to my days. Give it a try and watch it change your thinking, shift your mindset and your overall day.

Samson is in this bad habit of sleeping on our living room couch while we work. And while I know it’s naughty and I don’t approve dogs on the couch, I can’t help but secretly love it. He really enjoys snuggling and being comfy and I love seeing him so cozy like that. It makes me happy. I make him lay on a blanket so that at least makes me feel a little bit better about it…

We finished watching Secrets of the Whales on Disney+ and it was so good. If you’re into Planet Earth shows, it’s basically that. It’s only four episodes and was really relaxing and calming to watch. We’d put it on after dinner and snuggle on the couch. Whales are fascinating and incredible animals and they’re also Dave’s favorite animal so naturally, we had to watch this.

I’m really looking forward to getting in some good hikes, bike rides and camping this summer. The early summer in Colorado is my absolute favorite. Everything is lush, the rivers are rushing, the air is clean and the mountains are pristine. It’s like everything is awakening and energized again and it’s so fresh. Let’s just say, I can’t wait to do mountain girl things.
