Lincoln, England

_DSC0357 2I want to walk you through Lincoln, because it was one of my favorites while in England. Lincoln, along with Cambridge is another town that makes my list. It’s a hidden gem in Lincolnshire and it happens to be the place where Dave went to school. It has a castle and a cathedral and a canal that runs through the town, and also, a high street with the most fun shopping. Nevertheless, even more special, were the quaint cobble stone streets in the old town, with decorative tudor and brick buildings, boutiques, and cafés alike. _DSC0191 2

_DSC0371 3Every year, outside Lincoln Cathedral is one of Europe’s largest Christmas Markets. People gather from all over the world to stroll through the open air stalls underneath the cathedral lights. Unfortunately, we missed it by a week, but I hope to go someday!_DSC0339 2The Lincoln Cathedral was also used for filming the movie, The Da Vinci Code. I’m a little behind and still haven’t seen the movie, but it’s on my to-watch list, especially after walking around the beautiful filming grounds._DSC0340 3

_DSC0225 2Aren’t these the prettiest of brick buildings? This house happens to be one of the earliest extant town houses in England. It’s called the Jew’s House and it’s the oldest occupied house in all of Europe. _DSC0365 2

_DSC0394 1We had to stop for treats. I am huge fan of Costa Coffee’s Chocolate Carmel Shortbreads! Have you ever tried them?_DSC0355 2

This looks so quaint and adorable. I’m always amazed by how many beautiful hidden gems the UK (and continental Europe) have to offer. I have made a new year’s resolution this year to just go out and discover more of my own country and neighboring ones as well.
