Samsons 6 Month Update

samsons 6 months update

Samson turns 6 months this week! I can’t believe how fast he’s grown. He’s now got these long legs and a big black nose and it’s hard to believe that he was ever a teeny tiny pup. I thought it would be fun to do post about him and his weird 6 month old tendencies. Dave and I often say Samson’s in his terrible toddler stage because he’s the sweetest pup one minute and then the most stubborn boy the next.

Anyways, here are 11 things we’ve learned about Samson and his 6 month old self:

1.) He’s king of the couch.

He always gets the best spot on the couch, he wants to lay on top of two pillows and is quite the blanket hog.

2.) He loves sucking on the limbs of his stuffed animals.

He doesn’t rip them, he just sucks on them. They get so gross and slobbery and then they harden and eventually fall off. It’s pretty disgusting. His poor monkey only has one leg now.

3.) He’s a lap dog through and through.

If there’s a human lap around, he has to sit on it. Sometimes it’s cute and cuddly, but now he’s heavy and doesn’t realize how big and boney his elbows are when they dig into your thighs. Erm, ouch!

4.) He loves the word “lunch”

In the morning, we’ll ask Samson if he’s ready for breakfast and he won’t move a muscle. However, if we ask him if he wants “lunch” he sprints into the kitchen and sits next to his food bowl anxiously awaiting to be fed. He just loooves the word “lunch” but hasn’t quite figured out the word “breakfast” or “dinner” yet.

5.) He has conversations with our neighbor dogs.

If the dog living in the apartment below us is running around and making noises, Samson will bark at him as if he’s saying, “Hey, quiet down there!'”

6.) Dandelions are his favorite thing to eat.

He’s like Pac Man when it comes to dandelions. I have to pry them out of his mouth. Since he was born in the winter, flowers and grass are all new to him. He’s loving the warmer months and everything else that they bring. (Aren’t we all?!)

7.) He’s left handed.

He’ll only do shake with his left hand. It must run in the family. (I’m left handed, too!)

8.) He passed his exam and graduated puppy training class.

He can lay down with a treat on his paws and leave it for two minutes straight. Talk about victory!

9.) He wakes up when our alarms ring.

For the most part, Samson will sleep in his crate until he hears our alarm go off. Once the alarm goes off, he does his little whimpers. Which is a good and a bad thing. He holds us accountable to our alarm, but doesn’t let me take advantage of the snooze button.

10.) He loves kids.

We often joke around that instead of kids coming up to us asking if they can pet our dog, we ask our neighborhood kids if they want to pet Samson because he just loves hanging around kids.

11.) He’s a tough softie.

When he sees other dogs from afar, he acts like a tough guy by putting on his deep bark and standing in strong lion stance. But really, when he meets them he’s such a softie and rolls over on his back and lays down, tummy up! He’s all talk and no game.
