Sorry Blog, I’ve Been MIA

Dave and MelI haven’t been around for a while and as you can probably tell, I’ve neglected this little internet space of mine for the past few months. We’ve been all over the place! From Italy to England, Florida and Colorado… There’s a lot to share! I actually wrote this post back in May and I never got around to posting it. I still want to share it though because it’s a post that’s been on my mind and, I think updates are always good.

I feel guilty leaving this blog lonely without any new posts, but honestly, I needed to let it be. We had a roller coaster month. It wasn’t an easy one. We had a few nights celebrating and laughing, a lot of really good things happened. We cleared a big a hurdle and Dave became a permanent resident of the United States. He received his Green Card in the mail, and yes, it actually is green. It also has the coolest, most intricate holograms on it too. And then there was this big, unexplainable, hurdle that came out of nowhere for the both of us. It’s crazy how fast things can change and how your emotions can go from really high to really stinking, bottom-of-the-pit low. I want to share what I’ve learned coming out of these few hard weeks.

First, God is really big. I mean really, He’s really big. And when you’re in a tough and horrible situation you have to make him bigger and even greater than your problem. Because when He’s bigger than your problem, your problem slowly starts getting smaller and smaller and almost insignificant.

Second, gratefulness and thankfulness can completely change a hardened heart. I’ve learned that there are always things to be thankful for. Even when you want to resist it and even if you’re in the worst of times. In any and every situation, there is something to be thankful for. The other night Dave and I were having take out sushi and I was complaining to him. I just kept going on and on with my complaints and it became a total vent / whine session. He stopped me and said, “Mel, we have this time together and I don’t want to remember it like this. Let’s make it a good memory and appreciate this time together, ok?” Ugh, he was right. And as cheesy as it sounds, moments are precious and they should be filled with hearts that are overflowing with gratefulness.

Third, people are everything. We’ve been showered with so much love and support from our friends and family these past few weeks. Thank you. It truly makes us realize just how important people and relationships are. We appreciate it all, it warms our hearts and it’s brought me to tears.

Just my few things that helped me get through a tough time. I hope they can help you too. I’m happy to say we’re in a much healthier spot now and we’ve only grown so much since then. Now, back to blogging! :)

Glad to hear your hubby is now a permanent resident! Patience is key,a sis a clear mind, to get over tough situations and scenarios. No matter how big or small. Breaks are necessary so don’t feel bad but I know the feeling all too well. If I go one week without posting it is a huge internal guilt trip. Lol. Welcome back and have a great one Melissa! -Iva
